The weather is absolutely miserable today (another one of those cyclones off the coast of Madagascar), so I've spent the last hour searching on Technorati for blogs about Seychelles. The results were about as discouraging as the weather. Aside from a handful of travel blogs, where Seychelles crops up, there are loads of blogs that have been started by Seychellois, but discontinued. Sadly, this came as no great surprise, staying power not being one of the virtues Seychellois are known for. It's the island mentality, I suppose.
I did come across one blog I really enjoyed reading: Sandra Hanks Benoiton's blog Paradise Preoccupied. I remember meeting Sandra years ago when she ran The Splash Cafe, where you could get the best breakfasts on the island. Many a times, when I was back in Basel (Switzerland), did my mouth water for her full American breakfasts. So much so, that I had to learn to make them myself and do so regularly now. My only problem is that I can't find maple syrup anywhere right now ...

True. I also tried searching for Seychellois blogs/bloggers quite a while back and I found about 2-3. I also tried to get some of my seychellois friends to blog a bit (heehee I'm so nasty) and that didn't work out. :( sandrahanksbenoiton's blog is awesome, she's a fab writer. Never heard of Splash Cafe though, where exactly is it, is it in town?
Cheers.
Splash Cafe used to be at Baie Lazare, somewhere near the Anse Soleil turn-off. She is a great writer; just visited her blog this morning again.
